The HERMES DMSA Analysis program is primarily designed to help detect the onset of pyelonephritis in young children and to monitor the effect of treatment on infected patients. The program compares the function of each kidney with the function for a database of reference cases in order to assist detection of abnormal function.

HERMES DMSA Analysis is primarily designed to help detect the onset of pyelonephritis in young children and to monitor the eff ect of treatment on infected  patients.

The program compares the function of each kidney with the function for a database of reference cases in order to assist detection of abnormal function.

It is important that the studies are acquired in the same way as the studies stored in the reference database.
If comparison with references is not required, the program can be used to calculate kidney size and divided function only.

The program can be used to calculate divided function from a single posterior image or from both anterior and posterior images using a geometric mean calculation.
The program can accept a number of study types as input as follows:
• A single emission or transmission acquisition study
• Two transmission acquisition studies, one acquired with the object in place, and the other (”Blank Scan”) a transmission acquisition with the object removed. The latter is used in the calibration of the transmission reconstruction. 
• An emission acquisition study and an attenuation map which has the same image resolution as the acquisition study and the same number of slices as the image resolution of the acquisition study
